The hard disk contains data which can be of two types. The first type is the operating system with different software that is housed in one partition. The other type is the actual data that the user works on. When a hard disk crash takes place it causes permanent loss of data. In such situations the computer does not boot up and gives only error messages. When the computer is turned on the head gets stuck and causes scratches on the surface meant for recording of data and a scratching sound is emitted which is an indication of a hard disk crash. Recovery of data is expensive and done by disassembling the disk and files are extracted using special tools and copied onto another CD or DVD.

USB is the short form of Universal Serial Bus. This is the hassle free way to connect instantly to new hardware such as scanners, joysticks, digital speakers, a PC telephone or digital cameras from the existing computer. There is no need for any add in cards or DIP switch settings to add peripheral devices and new capabilities to the PC. There is no need to shut down and restart the PC to plug in or remove a peripheral device .The new device is automatically traced by the PC and configures the software. USB also helps to connect to numerous peripherals at the same time.

RAM is Random Access Memory. There is lot of information stored in your computer which you do not use it altogether. But when you are using only a portion of information it gets temporarily stored in the RAM due to which you can retrieve your information in the fastest time possible. The RAM works as long as your computer is running. Once the power is put off all the information disappears from the RAM.
